Following the expected release of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7, the company also announced this week it will launch a more affordable variant of the Galaxy Z Flip with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, a “Fan Edition” model for budget-conscious consumers.
The Z Flip 7 FE should inherit the same screen the standard Flip 7 will enjoy, but it will be graded differently from the higher spec setup, lower camera configuration, and more economical chipset. It’s a way of offering a similar foldable experience at a more budget-friendly price; yet such success will depend on just how different the price is between the two devices.
Expected features and performance
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is said to be using the Exynos 2400 SoC, the same chip in some versions of the Galaxy S24 series. But by this time when the phone will hit the market, the Exynos 2400 will be more than a year old, thus creating concerns about its long-term life cycle and performance. That, coupled with still being capable of delivering solid performance, makes using an older chipset of this kind completely sensible for a “lite” version.
Given how foldable phones are still newish, a well-crafted pricing strategy for the Z Flip 7 FE can really make a difference in the market. If Samsung can create a noticeable price gap between the regular Z Flip 7 and its FE variant, more budget-conscious buyers might be attracted to this line just for an affordable entry into foldable technology.
