According to foreign media reports, on September 28, OpenAI told investors that it intends to charge ChatGPT $22 monthly by the end of this year. The company also plans to significantly increase the monthly fee to as high as $44 over the next five years.
New York Times Report
Documents obtained by the New York Times show that OpenAI had revenue of $300 million in August this year and expects sales to reach $3.7 billion by the end of the year, but various expenses such as wages, rent, and operating costs will cause the company to lose $5 billion this year.
OpenAI is reportedly circulating documents reported by The New York Times to find new investors to prevent or reduce its funding shortfall. Fortunately, OpenAI is raising money at a $150 billion valuation, and a new round of investment could bring in as much as $7 billion.
OpenAI is also reportedly in the process of moving from a non-profit company. This business model allows for the removal of any restrictions on investor returns, so they will have more room to attract new investors at potentially higher rates.
