OnePlus president Kinder Liu says we can expect the OnePlus 13 to bring a magnetic charging style like the iPhone 16. She posted a snapshot of her discussions with an anonymous user about outsourcing wood or bamboo case designs that were part of the previous OnePlus models on her Weibo account. Liu said that yes, the OnePlus 13 would allow for wooden or made-to-look wooden plastic encasements with the bonus that a ‘magnetic suction function’ would be included with these casing options.
Rethinking MagSafe
This “magnetic suction function” indicates that OnePlus is also developing something similar to Apple’s MagSafe technology, which has been included in all high-end iPhones starting from the iPhone 12. By its original design, MagSafe was intended only for the iPhones to help align wireless charging. This new standard could make the magnetic feature of the OnePlus 13 a reality.
