The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has issued an advertisement to hire a Member IT MP-1 Scale position. It is one of the important posts of the digital transformation process in the country, policy formulation, and designing process.
This contract initially would have been for three years; however, this period could have been extended to another two years based on the evaluations.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or Master’s degree in ICT fields from an HEC- accredited institution, such as computer science, information technology, or software engineering. Doctoral candidates must have a minimum of seven years of experience from which at least three should be in a management capacity, while Master’s graduates must have at least nine years of relevant experience during which they must have acquired leadership exposure. The perfect candidate will also have to present competence in digital technologies, project management, and international IT standards besides having strong competencies with stakeholder engagement. The applicant’s age limit is 62 years.
The selection process will be done by a specialized committee, which will shortlist candidates and make recommendations to the Prime Minister for final approval. The Member IT will report directly to the Secretary of IT and Telecom and will drive key initiatives such as cybersecurity, e-governance, cloud adoption, and IT export strategies.
The vacancy comes as the current Member IT, Syed Junaid Imam, is set to conclude his term in January 2025. Appointed in 2019, Imam was granted two-year extensions in 2021, followed by additional short-term extensions. Despite notable progress in policy implementation, challenges in enhancing IT exports remain, underlining the importance of continuity in this critical role.
