Google Enhances Search Experience with Advanced AI Integration

By October 7, 2024No Comments2 min read

Google announced on Thursday that it will bring another major leap to Google Search and AI Overview through a series of artificial intelligence-based updates.

Earlier this year, Google incorporated generative AI technology into its existing Lens app, which lets users identify objects in photos and search for more relevant information online. Instead of a list of potentially relevant websites, the Lens app generates an AI summary based on what it sees. At its I/O conference in May, Google promised to expand this feature to video clips.

Lense updates

With Thursday’s update, you can use Lens to search for moving objects by taking a video and asking them questions. For example, you can get personalized information for a specific fish in your aquarium just by taking a video and asking a question. Lens now supports voice questions, so you can speak the question directly while taking a photo or recording a video clip.

In addition to providing links to visually similar products from retailers, Lens also displays reviews of specific products, price comparisons from around the web, and information about where to buy the item.

Integration of ads

Google has begun using AI to organize search results, claiming that this makes it easy to explore a variety of content and opinions from across the web, including articles, videos, forums, etc. In addition, Google has begun integrating paid advertising in its AI overview on mobile devices.

Google will design a new interface for the AI overview feature to display prominent links directly in the overview text, pointing to support pages. Google said that doing so has brought more traffic to the websites from which it extracts AI content and made it easier for people to visit websites of interest. Google will begin rolling out the new overview design globally today.
